Professonal Development
Rapid progress in the understanding of hearing loss, and the consequent development of hearing technology to cope with this loss has become centrally important to BSHAA in setting objectives for its members.
The society is therefore committed to a programme of continuous and mandatory ongoing education to ensure that its members' experience and knowledge is maintained and developed.
A programme of continuous professional development is required by the society and has been developed to achieve this objective. It is maintained and supported through two routes:
- Regular educational seminars arranged regionally by the BSHAA education committee. (Upcoming Events).
- Submissions to the education committee for approval of courses which have a direct relevance to the practice of hearing aid audiology.
All Members should obtain CPD. Members who have obtained their FSHAA status by examination prior to 1 January 2000 will maintain their FSHAA status. Members at 1 January 2010 should see the Membership Booklet for transition arrangments.
Fellowship status (FSHAA) can also be achieved by enrolling in the CPD programme and submitting a CPD portfolio and writing a summary (up to 750 words) of their professional activities during the previous 2 year period and describe the ways in which their CPD has enhanced their professional practice and has contributed to achieving their personal development goals.
Full details of the CPD programme can be obtained by looking at the events page on our website.
