Hearing Aid Council
Any person supplying hearing instruments to the public in a 'face-to-face' situation, must be registered with The Hearing Aid Council (HAC).
The HAC controls trade practice on behalf of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
The Council includes equal numbers of representatives from the fields of dispensing, the medical professions, and those representing the interests of consumers.
HAC registration is achieved by proving competence. All hearing aid dispensers have undergone supervised training, and have been successful in both the theoretical and practical aspects of the HAC examinations. The HAC register is updated constantly. Every hearing aid dispenser must renew their license to practice on an annual basis.
