The British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists is a Society that represents and promotes the private hearing aid profession in the UK. It is committed to promoting high standards in the profession generally and encourages the professional development of its members. It plays an important role in the ever-changing world of consumer care and hearing instrument fitting and provision. It supports members of the public and directs enquiries from them to its members, especially those which participate in the Society's Customer Care Scheme. The Society maintains regular contact with other appropriate organisations engaged in the wide spectrum of audiological disciplines and consumer affairs including the HPC.
A variety of support activities are regularly organised by BSHAA to ensure the membership receive up to date information about their profession. Educational support is also provided to help members keep up to date with evolving technology and the latest developments in the provision of hearing instruments and audiology. Our rules for CPD are consistent with the HPC's CPD requirements and support BSHAA members' compliance with the HPC's standards for continuous professional development. The support activities also provide an excellent forum for dispensers to exchange ideas with other audiologists and Registered Hearing Aid Dispensers.
The Society's rules for Continuing Professional Development are consistent with those of the regulatory body, the Health Professions Council and support members' compliance with the HPC standards for CPD. Online tools are available to assist in this compliance.
